I ‘ve been writing fiction as long as I can remember, but for many years I made my living as an outdoor writer and photographer specialising in landscape, travel, and outdoor pursuits, particularly walking, climbing, and cycling. I've won awards for my writing from the Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild, and once won the Photography Award of the British Guild of Travel Writers.

I’ve written a few novels, of varying quality, but since switching my focus to fiction, I’ve concentrated squarely on my series, The Shattered Moon, which was published in February 2023 and has now been joined by five more—and it’s not done yet.

I'm a bit of a genre misfit: SF historical romance… ish. Think Ursula K Le Guin meets Jane Austen (at least in aspiration, as well as inspiration).

Home is the North-West of England: born in Macclesfield, raised in Lancaster. I now live in Garstang, Lancashire, with my partner Bernie and several bikes.

AI Statement

There may be lots of good uses for AI, but I think it’s potentially disastrous for the creative sector. It steals our work in order to steal our livelihoods, and uses ridiculous amounts of energy in the process. I won’t use it anywhere near my creative process.
